Ms. Dixie had more hours on a boat than most people's lifetime. Gonna be a big loss for me, she was with me 24/7. Loved the boat, loved to fish, loved to hunt and always ready to go.

Well, get ready to get crushed. Just really spend time and hang with your dog. Sucks when they go. That's way too cavalier though. It's beyond words. I took my dog just about everywhere and I still question whether I could have hungout a little more. Maybe one less time at the bar that didn't take dogs with a buddy and have spent that time with my dog. Anyway, at least you love your dog that much. You just went up a few notches in my book.

I got one around 14. I love on him all I can. Went through all of this before and it’s horrible. Said I would not do it again, but I believe that’s what a lot of people say.

It is indeed tough, but that constant companionship and devotion can only be matched by your wife (if you’re lucky enough to have one).
I’ve had to have 3 put down and I swore each time that I was not going through that again but here I am reading TNet with two dogs in my lap.

While I can see why, I hate to think I cant have a dog in my life similar again. I had a dog that was a pet before Dixie. His name was Buster and I mourned his passing but he was never linked like another half. While he was a good dog, Dixie and I were on a different level. 24/7 was our life, work, fishing, sleeping, traveling, it didn't matter, she was with me 95% of the time. Everyone has special pets and Dixie's fishing skills impressed many! Im glad we found eachother

I dont think you look for a replacement but look for a friend that fills a void. My Dixie will be hard to replace and I know I cant but I hope I can find similar joy, I hope!

Great size for the boat too. Big enough to handle the elements but small enough not to always be in the way. She fished some nasty weather with me and she actually loved visiting Iowa for Ice fishing and snow. She has been a traveller.

Sorry for your loss. 2 years ago I lost my golden . She was my buddy who went everywhere with me. My others dog mourned as hard as I did. God gave them to us to watch over us and they do it unconditionally.

Beautiful Boykin…great dogs. We always own English Setters….very little sucks more in life than when you have to put them down. My sincere hope is the Good Lord will allow them to be in Heaven with us.

Our dogs and cats will be with us in heaven. If you have the lion lying down with the sheep, you know there will be animals in heaven and certainly our beloved pets. God gave them to us on this earth, surely he will give them to us on the new heaven and new earth.
Randy Alcorn, the recognized expert biblical teacher on heaven says our dogs and cats will be with us in heaven. He cites the Bible to prove it. Can't remember the verses.

Beloved mutt but we’ve always thought she has a lot of Boykin Spaniel in her. Looks like a black fur version of your dog.
Best dog I ever had. She’s 13 and starting to grey a lot. Don’t know what we’d do with out her!
My condolences TigerBigBass, your dog is like one of your children. Ours is the best behaved kid in the house and I’ve held her up as an example to her hard headed human brothers.

Condolences to you! We lost our lab a couple of weeks ago. She left a huge hole in our home to fill. She never had formal training as a service dog, but she knew exactly what was needed at times with an 18yo autistic boy in the house. Their relationship was something to behold. Prayers for you and yours!

Oh no! It’s the worst to lose a fur baby! I lost an 18-year-old dachshund in 2020 and 2022. They were father and daughter and two of the greatest loves of my life. The pain never goes away, we just learn to live with it a little better every day. I pray you get peace beyond all understanding. I know my (our) beloved are waiting to greet us on the other side. I find peace in that. I hope you do too. So sorry for your loss. I know God sent us dogs to show us how to love unconditionally.

Thank you. Boykins have an outdoor spirit that is hard to replace. Pretty sure her desire made me go even when I wasn't ready. Never a minute she was not ready to please me or a minute where she would just chill and wait for my next move. She went offshore 70mi at 7mos old, got seasick but never cared. She just hungout and made 100 more trips. Add in days and days on bass chasing tournament fish, chasing striper, she always had her place on my boat and my friends. We were a package deal I guess.

Thank you everyone for wishes and prayers. I found a place on my buddy's farm beside his lab Betty to let her RIP.
Cant stress enough all of your full engagement in my hurt! World is full of pet lovers but some make everyday better and Dixie was a 5*.
