This review book is designed for use by students as a study guide throughout their radiography education, but especially in their second year as they prepare to take the registry exam. It offers a comprehensive review, in outline form, of all major subject areas covered on the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) exam in radiography. In many radiography programs such a review is part of a specific course while in other programs it is considered independent study, and students are provided with a list of recommended books. Mosby's Comprehensive Review of Radiography, 3rd Edition, provides review information, question and answer sections, two mock registry exams in the text and two more on the disk, information on preparing resumes, interviewing and career planning in one comprehensive resource. Students who need to write resumes and prepare for interviews can find the guidance they need in this resource. The book also contains actual examples of resumes and cover letters for radiographers with and without previous college education. The major change for the new edition is the inclusion of rationales for answers. We have also added one additional 200-question mock exam to the text and include, packaged with the text, a free disk with two more 200-question exams for extra practice. That makes a total of 800 questions in exam format, plus 500 more as chapter review questions for a grand total of 1300 questions.
Passed the registry after many years out of x-ray.

I originally sat for the ARRT exam in 1973 and ventured into x-ray sales in 1978 and then away from radiology altogether in 1990. Since I didn't do the CEU's, I gave up my registry. I recently learned that the window of opportunity to get back in was rapidly closing and I needed to apply to retake the exam by 4/1/06. I took the exam on 3/20/06 and just learned that I passed with a 91...the same score I received in 1973! I no longer had any of my text books and so, I researched and bought two resources: F.A. Davis' Practice Guide for the Radiography Examination and Mosby's Comprehensive Review. I liked Mosby's for all the study information it contained. It was laid out in a very straightforward, organized format that was easy to study. I also liked the format on the disk for both studying and the exam. Some of the questions seemed pretty elementary. In fact, after consistently scoring in the 90's on the Mosby tests, I took an F.A. Davis test and scored a 71! Davis was primarily a test resource. There were formulas in the front that were useful, but the real value was in the testing. All told, I seriously studied about 3 weeks before taking the registry. Obviously, this combination worked well for me. I have the same complaint about each: there were several questions from each disk where they marked a question wrong but the rationale they supplied said my answer was right. It made me question the validity of other questions. They need to go back and review all their questions again and revalidate them.
This one is the best!!!

This new edition is fantastic! Callaway has structured ALL of the questions in the book and on the CD in the Registry format. The rationales for the answers are right on target. I've looked at the other radiography review books; save your money. Callaway's book is exactly what we all need. His writing is just as if we were in class with him. I wish he was my teacher. With this book, he is! I wouldn't use any other review book!

What I found helpful was the chapters on image production and evaluation. It was a pleasure to review from because it was written quite clearly and to the point. The chapter on Anatomy, Positioning, Procedures was also fantastic and a plus to review from. This book also had a lot of high quality radiographs to help explain important concepts. I also utilized {Fundamentals of Anatomy and Physiology} by Frederic Martini as a good backup reference. I also found the following very helpful for arrt preparation and they are {The Ultimate Study Guide for the Registry Examination in Radiography: Key Review Questions and Answers (Topics: Radiation Protection, Equipment Operation & Quality Control) Volume 1} by Patrick Leonardi {The Ultimate Study Guide for the Registry Examination in Radiography: Key Review Questions and Answers (Topics: Image Production & Evaluation) Volume 2} by Patrick Leonardi {The Ultimate Study Guide for the Registry Examination in Radiography: Key Review Question and Answers (Topics: Radiographic Procedures: Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology and Positioning, Patient Care & Education) Volume 3} by Patrick Leonardi These three volumes have the kind of questions asked on the arrt exam. These five books were very crucial for helping me pass the arrt exam.

This is an excellent review book. After completing the Radiography class, I used this to help prepare for the registry exam. With the help of this book, I passed my registry exam (06-2008) with an above average score. This book contains all the review material needed, Radiation Protection, Equipment Operation, Image Production, Procedures, and Patient Care. It also contains about 100 questions at the end of each chapter, three 200 question review tests, a career planning guide, and an EXTREMELY helpful review cd. The questions in the book contain the average "A,B,C,D and the 1, 2, & 3" questions, but it also contains questions in which the answers can range 1-10. I highly recommend this Review book!
