The 20th Century Historical figure for the 21st Century

I'd be lying if I said I'd finished, but I've only been at it for an interrupted week. The only thing better than Michaelis' writing might be his research - "No stone left unturned" ANYONE on the planet wanting to understand the USA in the 20th century should read...just give yourself time.
