Sexually speaking...

This is an excellent collection of articles on the construction of sexuality across cultures. No similar book exists so it fills a gap in an interesting and well organized manner. It is comprehensive and insightful - you'll never look at sex the same way again!

Excellent and readable book on sexuality around the world

I not only loved this book, but it caused my thinking on sex and sexuality to become more open, more broad. I finished reading this book yesterday and I am very impressed AND INFORMED. Beginning with the bonobo apes, this book took me on a journey through the world's various sexualities and made me realise that there are many, many different forms of sexuality. I especially liked the article "The Tyranny of Two -- whether or not monogamy is really possible and why, or why not. The Brazilian tavesti who drink silicone to attain female figures, and the New Guinea semen drinkers are two extremes, but I found the article on doctors deciding and performing extreme surgeries on babies whose genitals are ambiguous, very valuable.CONSTRUCTING SEXUALITIES deserves praise and should be THE text on sexualities.
