How I got a Rs 2.75 lakh bill, during a routine service of my Endeavour

Without asking us, they opened up the entire cooling system and removed the radiator from the car.

This issue needs to be highlighed on this forum where we have 1000's of Ford vehicle owners. Please beware before sending your car to FASS!

My friend owns a Ford Endeavour (2017 3.2L Diesel Automatic, Titanium)

The car has completed 72,000kms in the past 7 years, and has been going strong. The only people who’ve touched the car for any repairs or servicing is Ford Authorised Service.

Before we delve into the story, a point worth noting is that the car is still under Ford Warranty, and has gotten its transmission replaced once by Ford, free of charge.

Last week, we sent the car for a routine service (mind you, there was absolutely no issue with the car, only periodic service was needed). We get a call from the service centre stating that they took the car for a test drive, and found it to be rough. For this, they drained some engine oil, and found water mixed into the oil. Although shocked, we asked them to diagnose the problem.

Then, without asking us, they opened up the entire cooling system, and removed the radiator from the car. They then clicked photos of the radiator, and said that the radiator was damaged, and someone in the past has applied m-seal to the radiator to keep it intact. This has led to the oil/water mixing, and has voided the warranty on the car, and are now asking for Rs. 2,75,000 to fix the car!

1. The car has never had a frontal accident
2. The car has never been touched by anyone outside of Ford Authorised Service
3. The Service centre opened up the cooling system of the car without intimation or permission from us

This is a very perplexing situation, and any guidance on how to tackle this situation would be deeply appreciated.
