Synopsis

Plumbers Tommy Jones and Slats Henry install a radiator in the office of wrestling promoter Charlie Webster, who is looking for a new champion to replace Pat Simmons, whose spine was broken by Red Roman, Webster's enforcer, after he demanded more money. Remembering how easily Tommy lifted a heavy radiator, one of Webster's men suggests that they give him a tryout, but when Webster, who is looking for a young, handsome man to appeal to the fans, offers Tommy the job, he turns it down in favor of plumbing. Flo Woodbury, Webster's girl friend, then offers to see what she can do to change Tommy's mind. Before Tommy and Slats leave Webster's office, Pat's sister Mary storms in and accuses Webster of intentionally breaking her brother's back. Webster offers Mary money that he has forced the other wrestlers to donate, but she rejects it and promises to get even with Webster. Later, because he is attracted to Flo, Tommy agrees to wrestle for Webster. Meanwhile, Mary tells athletic commissioner Harley that Webster uses "policemen" like Red to punish wrestlers who get out of line and accuses him of running a monopoly. Mary also tells Tommy her theories, but he does not take them seriously. After Tommy becomes a successful wrestler, he demands more money, even though Flo warns him against it. Some time later, Tommy accompanies Mary when she visits Pat in the hospital and learns that Webster never gave him the money that he collected from the other wrestlers. Tommy then suggests that Webster promote a wrestling match, the profits from which will go to Pat so that he can have an operation that might help him walk again. Webster agrees and proposes that Tommy fight Red for the championship title. Unknown to Tommy, Webster plans to have Red destroy him as he did Pat. Mary discovers Webster's scheme and tries to warn Tommy, and when she is unable to enter his dressing room, she tells Slats her suspicions. With Slat's help, Tommy wins the match. Webster is finally exposed and Pat, whose operation was successful, is appointed to head the wrestling commission. Tommy later marries Mary and starts his own plumbing business with Slats as his assistant.
