Terrington Hall

Upon losing a Six Nations bet to head of learning support David Wright, one English pupil had to wear a Scotland rugby shirt as a forfeit. Don’t worry, the pupil got their own back: ‘I tease him for supporting Leicester Tigers.’ This rural Yorkshire prep has gone from strength to strength since Simon Kibler arrived in 2020. ‘A shining example of what an active head- master should be,’ says a parent, crediting him with improving standards, welcoming the pupil voice and upgrading facilities – all while still making time to join his students for a kick-around at play- time. Sport is an important part of school life, with around eight time-tabled hours a week, teams for all abilities and the ‘legendary’ inter-school cross-country festival. But what pupils love above all is the ‘family atmosphere’ that allows them to thrive. Oh, and chef Billy’s ‘great’ food. ‘I haven’t had a meal that I haven’t really enjoyed,’ says one satisfied pupil.
