Cundall Manor School

One parent chose Cundall for her children because they ‘got really dirty, played in mud, rolled down hills and climbed trees’. Pupils enjoy a Blyton-esque life at this nursery-through-to-GCSE school, spending break times launching eggs down the drive and looking after chickens. In the new Lodge – a tranquil wellbeing centre that overlooks an orchard – a counsellor is on hand to deal with any wobbles. After nearly 20 years here, the ‘brilliant’ Amanda Kirby has retired as the head; but everyone looks forward to seeing what incoming Christopher James-Roll (as of September 2022) has in store. One pupil notes that Cundall Manor ‘feels like a big family’ – a testament to ‘excellent’ pastoral care.
