A driver who failed to notice police passing by because they were busy texting on their phone behind the wheel has been fined.
Wiltshire Specials officers were out with officers from the Roads Policing Unit on Sunday, January 12 on the A419 in Swindon when they spotted a driver distracted by their phone while travelling on the busy road.
The driver was issued with paperwork and six points on their licence, along with a fine of £200.
A Wiltshire Specials spokesperson said: “Despite being in one of the larger marked cars on fleet, this driver failed to notice us as we passed by, as they were busy texting on their phone.
“Paperwork issued 6 points and £200 fine pending A419 Swindon.”
