An emergency on the railway line near Swindon has caused hours of delays and cancellations.
On Thursday, September 26, emergency services were called to an emergency incident on the railway line between Swindon and Didcot Parkway just after midday.
The British Transport Police are yet to confirm the nature of the incident at this stage.
The spokesperson for Great Western Railway said: "Due to the emergency services dealing with an incident between Swindon and Didcot Parkway, the line is blocked.
"We're working with Network Rail and the emergency services to deal with an incident between Swindon and Didcot Parkway as sensitively, quickly and safely as possible.
"Some trains will be revised, only completing parts of their normal journeys. There will also be some cancellations.
"We are trying to source replacement transport to run between Swindon and Didcot Parkway."
Despite warnings that delays would last until 4pm with delays of up to 90 minutes, current timetables show trains cancelled as late as 5pm on Thursday.
