Sixers have jumped up to the second spot in the table with the win, which was also their fifth consecutive one in the derby. They have sealed the Thunder's fate if it was not already. That's it for this match! I (Rudransh) would like to take your leave on behalf of Arya. See ya!
End of the match!
Thunder all out for 132. The Sixers win by 19 runs!
Josh Philippe 47 (35) | Steve O'Keefe (3/13) David Warner 37 (39) | Nathan McAndrew (2/17)
A really magnificent bowling performance from the Sixers led by the veteran Steve O'Keefe. 152 looked like a part total at best and hardly anyone would have considered it a match-winning despite it being a pitch which had a bit of uneven bounce and some grip for the spinners.
Warner and Hales breathed fire in the powerplay and it looked like they'll kill the game in the first 10 overs itself. But O'Keefe came on soon after the first four overs and struck twice in six balls to send back both Hales and Bancroft. From then on, him and Murphy gripped the game by the scuff of its neck.
Warner stood alone at one end and the run-rate was completely blocked at the other. Pacers Kerr, Abbott and Dwarshuis utilised that pressure into taking wickets in the middle overs setting it up perfectly for O'Keefe to come back in the 17th and snap Warner up when he was under pressure which killed the game.
19.5 Hayden Kerr to Liam Hatcher, WICKET! Sydney Thunder win by 19 runs. Slower short of a length delivery from Hayden Kerr, Hatcher goes swiping across the line, was a bit early into the shot, more from the cue end and carries all the way to the deep midwicket fielder
19.4 Hayden Kerr to Liam Hatcher, FOUR! A fuller-length delivery a shade outside off, powered down the ground by Hatcher, flat and hard and races away to the straight boundary.
19.3 Hayden Kerr to Liam Hatcher, yorker-length delivery around the middle stump, Hatcher digs this out towards the long on region, scampers through for a couple.
Tanveer Sangha, RHB, is the last man in
19.2 Hayden Kerr to Liam Hatcher, WICKET! On a hard-length around the pads of Hatcher, he tries to pick it up and deposit that over the backward square leg fence, doesn't get any contact, off his thigh pads and Gray tried to steal a single. Kerr gets to the ball and hits the bullseye at the bowling end with the batter well short of his crease.
Toby Gray run out (Hayden Kerr) 10 (7b, 1x4, 0x6)
That's a brilliant shot - he clears the big boundary with ease!
19.1 Hayden Kerr to Liam Hatcher, SIX! A slot delivery on the leg stump, Hatcher holds his shape and swings across the line, heaves it away well over the deep midwicket fence. Connects it with aplomb and comfortably clears the fence.
Kerr will finish things off
32 needed off six in the last over. Not even a big NRR boost to chase here either.
