Right, we have come to the end of this second Test match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 between India and Australia and the hosts Aussies have done incredibly well to level the series. India will be under a lot of pressure as they head to Gabba as the question marks will be raised on their batting. They will need to bounce back in quick time and look to put out a much better performance in the next Test. All eyes will also be on Jasprit Bumrah. The talismanic speed star and Indian vice captain, did pull out in his delivery stride during Australia's first innings and he bowled just one over in the second innings where he didn't cross the 130 kph mark with the speeds. India would be praying for him to be fit before the next Test. 

Pat Cummins (Australia Captain): We have been pretty good this week and we were able to pick up the wickets in time. It was amazing to have this group and Starc is amazing and it has been a privilege to have him in the side. Head took the game straight out of India's hands when he walked out to bat. It was about getting in that lead and putting India under the pump. Scotty (Boland) fitted in straight away and he probes the batters with every ball. Hopefully, Josh is back next week but Scotty was incredible. We will look to have an ice bath and recover before the third Test. "

Rohit Sharma (India Captain): We didn't play well enough to win the game and Australia did better than us. We couldn't latch on to the momentum in crucial situations and it cost us. We knew it was going to be challenging with the Pink ball and every Test has it's own challenges. We want to go out there in Gabba and take the positives from our previous efforts. We want to start well and play well. 

Travis Head is the Player of the Match. Here is what he had to say: Nice to get some runs. It felt like I was in good form. it is a good dressing room to be in. Most prople will suggest otherwise, but it is a tight one. Pat (Cummins) gave me confidence. He said, 'play the game how you see it.' I think I picked out the moments really well through the innings. Nice to have my family here. It has been a nice week.

Mitchell Starc (Australia) - " I think it was like a white ball for us more than a red ball. Nathan didn't have to bowl much while Scotty and Pat did really well. We bowled and batted extremely well this week. It's great to be able to bowl those yorkers as a bowler and I love bowling the one that tails back into the right hander. There has been some conversations over the years regarding getting the control and developing the wobble seam delivery. I have worked on improving my accuracy and it has created an extra point of difference. I put in the hard yards off the field and it's one of those things that go unnoticed. Myself, Pat and Josh have all grown up together in Sydney and we have always trained together. We have learnt a lot from each other as well. "

It took Australia just three overs to get over the line and they did it in some style. Usman Khawaja hit the winning runs for them and it would give them a lot of confidence. Both the openers ensured that Australia level the series in style with a thumping 10 wicket win. Australia have now levelled the series 1-1 and it has been a remarkable turnaround from them after their shocking defeat at Perth where they had been humbled by the biggest ever margin on their home soil. 

Batting today morning, India could only add 47 more runs to their overnight score as the lower order collapsed yet again. Rishabh Pant was dismissed in the very first over and it was once again Nitish Reddy who had to rescue the innings. India were staring at an innings defeat at one point of time but Reddy smacked a few big ones and ensured that the Aussies had to come to bat in the second innings. It saved the blushes of an innings defeat for India although the defeat was impending nonetheless. 

For Australia, it was Pat Cummins who ran through the Indian tail today morning. He targeted the lower order batters with the short pitched stuff and it's something that the Indians didn't use much. It can be a big cause of concern for the visitors heading further into the series but the Aussies won't mind. They will be cherishing this victory and the momentum is in their stride as they move on to GABBA where the wounds of the 2021 defeat is still fresh on their minds. They will look to prove a point there too as India will also have a job on their hands to bounce back.
