Corbin Bosch has grabbed the headlines with his excellent performance for South Africa in the ongoing first Test against Pakistan. The pace-bowling all-rounder scalped four wickets and followed it up with an unbeaten 81-run knock with the bat.
Bosch dismissed Shan Masood, Saud Shakeel, Aamer Jamal, and Naseem Shah in Pakistan's first innings. The South African side then slumped to 191/7 in response to Pakistan's 211. Corbin Bosch came out to bat at number nine and scored 81 runs off 93 balls to ensure the Proteas ended the first innings with a lead of 90 runs.
Last month, Bosch remained unsold at the IPL 2025 Mega Auction. Fans should note that he is not just a top performer in red-ball cricket but he also has a decent record in T20s. In fact, he has had stints with IPL teams' sister franchises Paarl Royals, Pretoria Capitals and Barbados Royals in other T20 leagues.
In this listicle, we will look at the three IPL teams who should have bought Corbin Bosch at the mega auction.
#1 Delhi Capitals need an overseas pace-bowling all-rounder like Corbin Bosch
IPL 2020 runners-up Delhi Capitals (DC) made drastic changes to their squad by letting go of big names like Rishabh Pant, Anrich Nortje and Prithvi Shaw. The Capitals have invested in proven match-winners like Mitchell Starc, KL Rahul, Ashutosh Sharma, Faf du Plessis, and T Natarajan.
Their batting and bowling departments look solid on paper, but it seems like DC needed one more quality all-rounder apart from Axar Patel. Their all-rounders' section majorly consists of uncapped Indian players.
Having an overseas all-rounder like Corbin Bosch would have benefited the Delhi Capitals. For the record, Bosch has 663 runs and 48 wickets to his name in 78 T20 matches.
#2 Kolkata Knight Riders
Defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) could not re-sign their last season's game-changer Mitchell Starc at the mega auction. However, they have assembled a lethal pace attack featuring Anrich Nortje, Spencer Johnson, Umran Malik, Vaibhav Arora, Andre Russell, and Harshit Rana.
Both Nortje and Johnson are injury-prone pace bowlers. It would have been great had KKR roped in someone like Corbin Bosch as a backup option in case Nortje and Johnson got injured. Bosch could have been a fantastic option in the pace attack of the Knight Riders.
#3 Lucknow Super Giants
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) signed only one overseas bowler at the IPL 2025 Mega Auction. They used the RTM card to bring Shamar Joseph back in the squad. All other specialist bowlers in the LSG squad are Indians.
While it is good to have so many talented Indian players in the squad, not many franchises with an all-Indian bowling lineup have achieved success in IPL's history. LSG missed out on a fantastic talent like Bosch at the mega auction. Perhaps, instead of going for too many uncapped players in the end, LSG could have signed Bosch at the auction table.
Looking at how Bosch has performed in recent matches, it should not be a surprise if he joins an IPL team as a replacement signing.
