LA Lakers star LeBron James and Golden State Warriors guard Steph Curry seemingly revived NBA viewership on Christmas Day. The game between the Lakers and Warriors on Wednesday peaked with over eight million viewers and averaged over seven million.
One main reason for the holiday game's increased views was that it featured two of the best players in the league. While James and Curry are in the twilight of their careers, fans still pay attention to them because they have not shown signs of slowing down.
The Lakers star had 31 points and 10 assists, while the Warriors's franchise superstar didn't back down. Curry had 38 points and eight assists while shooting 53.3 percent from deep.
Their game was also competitive down to the last second, ending with a final score of 115-113 in favor of the LA Lakers.

Following the game, former NBA player Kendrick Perkins saw a post on X (formerly Twitter) about the increase in viewership on Christmas Day. Perk cited the demand James and Curry could bring to a game, which enabled the league to achieve the number of viewers it had.
"No disrespect to nobody… but Bron and Steph Move Mountains. Like I said last night they are Mega Stars!!!!"
The former Boston Celtics player was glued to the television during the Lakers vs. Warriors match. While watching the clash between James and Curry, Perkins posted on X that the two stars didn't disappoint.
"Steph vs Bron never disappoints."
LeBron James said he can still make the NBA great, together with Curry
Ahead of their Christmas Day matchup, many were excited to see the showdown of the two rivals, LeBron James and Steph Curry. They exceeded expectations during the game and had memorable performances during the holiday season. After the game, James was asked by ESPN's Dave McMenamin about what makes the league great during a day like Christmas.
The Lakers star had a simple answer:
“LeBron and Steph.”
The two stars didn't back down from the challenge and James appreciated his rivalry with Curry.
"You just tip your hat," James said about Curry. "When there’s a great player out there, you tip your hat and just try to execute the next possession. But you have a feeling of ’S**t’ versus us, like ‘Why?’ And then also being a fan too, you’re like how the hell did he make that? He’s unbelievable. Special. So you have an appreciation for it, for sure."
Fans must wait a few weeks to see the two stars face off. Their next game is on Jan. 25.
