Rieger & Co. unveiled today the Kansas City distillery’s newest commemorative bourbon label designed in collaboration with Sporting Kansas City.
The limited-edition collectable 750 ml bottles feature J. Rieger & Co.’s award-winning Straight Bourbon Whiskey – a blend of four to five-year old barrels that delivers big, bright cherry on the nose followed by flavors of vanilla and oak – adorned in artistic elements from the club’s brand new third jersey to pay homage to the team’s roots as the Kansas City Wiz as well as the club’s ardent supporters culture.
This is the fourth edition of the J. Rieger & Co. series with Sporting Kansas City and only 1,000 bottles will be sold at the J. Rieger & Co. distillery. The special release will be available for the first time on Wednesday during the club’s watch party in The Atrium at J. Rieger & Co. (2700 Guinotte Ave., Kansas City, MO) while supplies last. The event will feature a live DJ and happy hour pricing on drinks from 8:30 p.m. CT until final whistle.
Sporting KC is a proud charter member of Major League Soccer and the 96 proof J. Rieger & Co. bottles are a nod to 1996 when MLS launched with the Kansas City Wiz as one of 10 founding teams. For nearly three decades, Oh When the Wiz has been sung by supporters on matchdays and the chant is now a club tradition as part of The Sway after victories at Children’s Mercy Park.
Founded in 1887 in Kansas City’s West Bottoms Livestock Exchange district, J. Rieger & Co. is now located in the historic Electric Park district of East Bottoms with distribution across the country. Sporting teamed up with J. Rieger & Co. for a spirited partnership that kicked off in 2019 with specialty bottlings, cocktails and events to celebrate a shared love of Kansas City.
Rieger & Co. is also an official pub partner in the Sporting Pub Network with a business subscription to MLS Season Pass on Apple TV for showing Sporting Kansas City away matches throughout the 2024 season.
