Ravi Ahuja is President and Chief Executive Officer of Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE), where he oversees the studio's global businesses which include motion pictures, television studios and networks, Crunchyroll, experiences, and entertainment technology.
Prior to assuming the CEO role in January 2025, Ahuja served as Chairman of the Global Television Studios and President & COO of SPE, leading day-to-day operations of SPE and all production businesses for Sony Pictures Television (SPT), including U.S. and international productions, Nonfiction, Kids, Game Shows, and the studio’s India business.
Since joining Sony Pictures, Ahuja reoriented the television business, expanded the studio’s gameshow IP and led several key M&A transactions for the studio, including the acquisitions of award-winning nonfiction company Industrial Media, leading UK production company Bad Wolf, Academy and Emmy Award-winning VFX company, Pixomondo, Alamo Drafthouse Cinema which anchored the launch of the studio’s Sony Pictures Experiences division, and the sale of GSN Mobile Games to Scopely.
Before joining Sony in March 2021, Ahuja was President of Business Operations and CFO of Walt Disney Television, which included the ABC Network, ABC News, ABC Owned Stations, Disney Channel, Disney Television Studios, Freeform, FX, Hulu Originals and National Geographic. He played a central role in merging Disney/ABC Television and Fox Networks following Disney’s acquisition of Fox in early 2019.
Prior to his time at Disney, he served as CFO of the Fox Networks Group, where he oversaw finance, strategy and business development for all its business units: Twentieth Century Fox Television Studios, Fox Broadcasting, Fox Cable Networks, Fox Sports, National Geographic and Fox Networks Europe and Africa, Latin America and Asia.
In his 12 years at Fox, Ahuja formulated and executed on the company’s growth initiatives, including those in streaming and new technology. He helped to guide the company’s Hulu joint venture for over a decade and spearheaded investments in Roku, Draft Kings and many others. Additionally, Ahuja led the acquisitions of National Geographic Partners, Yankees Entertainment & Sports Network and Sports Time Ohio.
Before joining Fox in 2007, Ahuja served as CFO for Virgin Entertainment Group, Inc. Prior to that, he worked at McKinsey & Company and in investment banking.
SPE’s Motion Picture Group is comprised of Columbia Pictures, Screen Gems, Tristar Pictures, 3000 Pictures, Sony Pictures Classics, Stage 6 Films, AFFIRM Films, Sony Pictures Animation, and Sony Pictures Imageworks, the only in-house visual effects unit of a major studio. Over the years, the film studio has generated hits such as Best Picture Oscar® nominees Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood, Little Women, American Hustle, Captain Phillips, and The Social Network, as well as blockbuster franchises like Spider-Man, Hotel Transylvania, Jumanji, Venom, Bad Boys, and Ghostbusters.
Sony Pictures Television (SPT) is one of the television industry's leading content providers. It produces and distributes programming globally in every genre, for a multitude of platforms. In addition to owning one of the industry's largest libraries of award-winning feature films, television shows and formats, SPT boasts a current program slate that includes top-rated daytime dramas and game shows, landmark off-network series, original animated series and critically acclaimed primetime dramas, comedies and telefilms including Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy!, The Boys, Cobra Kai, The Last of Us, S.W.A.T., Outlander, For All Mankind, Shark Tank, 90-Day Fiancé, Twisted Metal, The Night Agent, Dark Matter, and many more. SPT is also home to the fast-growing anime streaming subscription service Crunchyroll, which was acquired in 2021. In addition to its U.S. production business, SPT has 23 wholly owned or joint venture production companies in 12 countries.
Among the more than 3,500 titles in Sony Pictures’ library catalog are the Spider-Man and Men In Black franchises, the Seinfeld TV series, and classics such as Lawrence of Arabia, Taxi Driver and Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
Ahuja has an undergraduate and MBA degree from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and recently joined the Wharton Undergraduate Executive Board. He is currently on the Board of Directors of Roku, Inc.
