HOLTON — Shelby’s football team picked up its second consecutive victory last Friday night in West Michigan Conference Rivers Play, scoring a 48-6 victory against Holton at the Red Devils’ field.

The Tigers (2-4, 2-2 WMC Rivers) — according to statistics posted online on Hudl — amassed 435 yards of total offense including 341 yards on the ground. Shelby out-gained Holton (0-6, 0-3 WMC Rivers) with the Red Devils getting 268 yards of total yards.

Shelby also forced a pair of Holton turnovers, one an interception and the other a fumble recovery.

The Tigers scored on five running plays, one going for 58 yards and the other for 44 yards, a pass and a 77-yard punt return.

Shelby plays its final home game of the season Friday night — the Tigers’ homecoming — when Manistee visits. The Mariners are ranked No. 7 in Division 6 in the most recent Associated Press football poll.
