Princess Märtha Louise of Norway has shared details of her upcoming wedding to controversial American shaman Durek Verrett. As reported by British media, they are set to tie the knot in August.

The former royal took to Instagram to reveal a new monogram ahead of her summer nuptials, according to People. On July 1, the 52-year-old clarified on Instagram that it was “not an official monogram, as I no longer represent the royal family at official functions”.

“This monogram truly speaks to our cores, representing us and our love, and we are truly grateful and honoured that it signifies our unity to the world,” she wrote, adding two heart emojis.

Not much is known about 49-year-old Vurett’s parents. According to The List, his mum is a mix of West Indian and Norwegian descent who also worked as a psychic medium, while his father, a Seventh-Day Adventist, raised his son in a majority-white neighbourhood. Per the source, the family had access to private planes and expensive cars. According to the same article, he spent his childhood growing up between Foster City and Hawaii.

Verrett is an American shaman who’s known to have A-list celebrity clients including actress and Goop founder Gwyneth Paltrow. Verrett is the author of a book called Spirit Hacking: Shamanic Keys to Reclaim Your Personal Power, Transform Yourself, and Light Up the World.

The US-born businessman, who is three years Märtha Louise’s junior, proposed with a ring that includes an emerald – a gem that the princess’ mother, Queen Sonja, is fond of, according to Town & Country. It also features three diamonds, which are said to represent the princess’ three daughters.

As reported by Hola!, the shaman previously opened up about his relationship with the royal family – and his sexuality – in an Instagram Live video: “I’m not gonna lie and say like in the beginning it wasn’t kind of bumpy because you’re having this shaman, bisexual, Black man coming into your family, but over years we’ve built such a lovely relationship. I love them.”
