Audience Member Trash. Waste of my time Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Found this free on Amazon Prime and thought "why not?" Anyway, for years I have been meaning to read Sterling Seagrave's book but never got around to it. Not only was the movie great (and well cast) but I think it's going to force me to buy Mr Seagrave's book afterall. This would have been a great story as fiction -- but as fact, it's even more so. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member The music was lovely. A beautiful yet tragic story. The acting was superb as well. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member Poetry of the Infallible. Majesty of the Patriotic. Romance of the History. One of its kind. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member As interesting as the story is, the movie is clumsy and drags. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member Soong Sisters buckles a bit under it's own weight and details are lost, as Mabel Cheung paints with her broadest strokes. The Kitaro-supplied music score only adds to the overbearing effect. The film potentially also might suffer a bit from being made in 1997, a year when Hong Kong suffered from severe handover trauma, and all relations with Beijing were handled with utmost care. But the epic scale of Soong Sisters hardly brings out the best filmmaker in Mabel Cheung, who fairs much better in a more intimate and local context, as proven in earlier and subsequent works.
