Ed Masley Arizona Republic It's all very stylized and flashy and modern, self-consciously hip in a way that's clearly been designed to speak to generations for whom Elvis Presley may not be the King of Rock 'n' Roll so much as the guy on the soundtrack to "Lilo & Stitch." Rated: 3.5/5 Aug 16, 2022 Full Review Jonathan Romney Uncut Magazine [UK] Elvis is hyperbolic, one-dimensional and ludicrous – but as high-excess cinematic myth-making, it’s a blast. Jul 7, 2022 Full Review Todd Gilchrist AV Club Luhrmann's fast-cutting super-montage style overpowers the subject matter, and the result is an impressionistic, jumbled highlight reel of Presley’s many accomplishments, despite vivid recreations by actor Austin Butler as The King. Rated: C- Jul 5, 2022 Full Review Denise Pieniazek Puesta en Escena (AR) The story shows that the artist took elements from different musical styles such as gospel and blues, to fuse them with country music, rock and roll and even opera. All this through aesthetic characteristic of the director, like comics and the video clip Rated: 8/10 Aug 21, 2024 Full Review Daniel Allen Loud and Clear Reviews Elvis is Baz Luhrmann’s best film since Moulin Rouge!, a frantic, kinetic and incredibly captivating biopic about the King of Rock and Roll. Rated: 4.5/5 Jul 25, 2024 Full Review Ankit Ojha Cinema Elite Director Baz Luhrmann’s sixth feature-length film “Elvis“ is officially the best superhero story of 2022. David C The direction of the story and the editing was a little choppy.... I don't think the main star looked that much like Elvis.... And Tom Hanks performance was almost laughable which was surprising but unfortunately it was pretty bad.
