This really suprised me with how strong it came together with a slow but solid start just found it's rhythm and never really let's up. Only faults I cna bring up is the acting is solid but the four child actors aren't amazing and don't have th emost depth. This really relies on the unique world to make up and carry it which it excels at. The villian is good though a little wooden at times. The animated beavers, lion, and pretty much all the creatures are the best and really good and charming, especially the lion whose the best thing in this. The cinematography is really good. While the direction is pretty basic and could've probably used a bit more creativity at times, the production value shines through. The sets are cool, the costumes are good, and the CGI which is probably the biggest suprise is actually really good. You can tell it's CG and isn't on par with Golem or T2 but it's very creative, the animals faces are well animated, and it's just very clean overall. There is a lot of CGI but also lots of practical sets that give it a good balance of tangiblity. This world is very much like a fairy tale and does a great job of capturing the childlike wonder of imagination and exploration of a new world and the creatures in it. Music is good too though it really isn't catchy on it's own. The editing and pacing are very well done also and really suprised at that. The 4 kids are never all divided up except for one of them. It get a little jumpy cutting between them when that happens but it for the most part there always together so it ends up being very cohesive. And there is always new wonders too see. Yeah the basic story is the chosen one cliche we've seen done a thousand times at this point even back in 2005 but it's so well done here and a lot of love was put into this that it shines through. Anyone who is a fan of fantasy, adventure movies, any actors in this, the source material, or the director should give this a try. From the score to the soothing sound of Aslan's voice, this film is calming and peaceful. The acting is surprisingly good, the character development is at the forefront (especially for Edmund) and the setting is gorgeous. With a great message of redemption and sacrifice at its core, The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe is a film that I watch when I want to feel something. Note: First act Edmund is the worst! 2nd Note: The White Witch is still absolutely terrifying.
