Subscription FAQ
Can I try Rev for free before subscribing?
Yes! You can either sign up for the Free tier, which will give you access to 45 free AI minutes per month. Or you can select one of the paid tiers (Basic or Pro) and start with a 14-day free trial. You will get access to all of the Pro features for 14 days for free! You will not be charged until your 14-day trial ends. At that point, the tier you originally selected will activate. To access the free trial, select the tier you’d like now.
Are there restrictions on when you can cancel your subscription?
No, you can cancel your subscription at any time without any penalty. Simply go to the “Manage Subscription” page to cancel. You can reactivate your subscription at any point as well.
How do I upgrade or downgrade my subscription?
You can upgrade or downgrade your subscription at any point in your billing cycle. Simply go to the “Manage Subscription” page and select the tier you’d like to move to.
When you choose to upgrade, you'll only need to cover the price difference between the two plans. This holds true no matter where you are in the current billing cycle. When you downgrade, you will continue to have the benefits of the higher priced plan until the downgrade takes effect at the end of the original billing cycle.
What other Rev products (ie., human transcription, captions, subtitles) are included in the subscription?
Subscribers can access both AI transcripts and AI captions as part of their monthly limit. As a paid subscriber, you also get a discount on all proofreading (human) services – 10% for those on the Basic tier and 15% for those on the Pro tier. Once you are subscribed, you will see the discount applied to your human service orders during checkout. You can place orders for all services from here.
How do I set up the Zoom integration? Do recorded Zoom meetings count towards the monthly limit?
If you have a Zoom Pro, Business, Business+, Enterprise, or Education Zoom account, you can set up the Zoom integration in just a few clicks. Go here to link your Rev and Zoom accounts.
Once you easily configure your Zoom settings, you will be able to start using the Zoom integration. In your next meeting, During your next Zoom meeting, you need to record your meeting to the cloud. (Press Record > Record to the Cloud). Once the integration setup is complete, all meetings recorded to the cloud will be transcribed by Rev. The completed automated transcripts will live in “Workspaces” on rev.com.
Your Zoom meetings do count towards your monthly allotment of AI minutes. You can see how many minutes you have left on the “Manage Subscription” page.
What happens if I exceed my monthly limit before my next billing cycle begins?
You will be charged our standard per-minute rate of $0.25 per minute for any additional minutes of AI transcription or captions. Your monthly allotment will restart once the next billing cycle begins. Alternatively, you can upgrade to a higher tier to gain access to more minutes per month. You can upgrade to other tiers at any point during your billing cycle.
How do I place an order as a subscriber?
You’ll log in to your Rev account, go to your dashboard, and upload a file either by dragging and dropping your file or by clicking the “Place New Order” button and then selecting your preferred service line. Your completed AI files will appear a few minutes later in your "Workspaces" page. Your human-generated files will appear in your "Workspaces" page within 24 hours.
To have a Zoom meeting transcribed, you’ll just need to set up your Zoom integration, record your meeting to the cloud, and then you’ll automatically see the transcripts of your meetings on the “Workspaces” page.
Can I place orders via Rev’s mobile app?
Yes, once you subscribe to Rev, you will be able to record and order AI or human transcripts using Rev’s app.
What if I have technical or uncommon terms in my content?
You're already getting all the speed and accuracy of Rev's best-in-class automatic speech recognition (ASR) engine. Although our ASR engine has a dictionary of more than 500,000 words, it can sometimes fail to recognize niche or industry-specific terminology and proper nouns.
To address this problem, Rev has introduced a Glossary feature, which allows you to improve transcription accuracy by supplying a custom list of words, phrases or terms to the ASR engine. Glossary items can be easily added to your account at any time, and will be used by the ASR engine on all subsequent AI transcription orders.
To start using the Glossary, follow the steps below:
- Log in to your Rev account.
- Select "Glossary" from the left navigation bar.
- Enter one or more words, phrases or terms in the editor text box.
- Click "Save" to save your changes.
Subsequent AI transcription orders will use the contents of the Glossary during the speech recognition process.
Can my transcripts include disfluencies like “um” and “uh” and/or filler words?
By default, Rev's ASR engine excludes disfluencies from your AI transcripts. This is called a non-verbatim transcript. Many users find these easier to read and use. A verbatim transcript is an exact representation of the audio, including non-speech sounds, disfluencies like "um" and "uh" and filler words.
While verbatim transcripts are extremely accurate, they can also be hard to read. To address this, Rev supports non-verbatim for English-language AI transcripts. This removes the unwanted elements from the final transcript.
If you prefer to have verbatim transcripts, you can change your settings:
- Log in to your Rev account.
- Select “Edit” under "Verbatim" from the left navigation.
- To enable verbatim for your AI transcription orders, select the "AI Transcripts" checkbox in the "Verbatim" list.
- To enable verbatim for Zoom Meeting transcription, select the “Zoom” checkbox. This only appears when the Zoom integration is enabled.
- Click "Save".
