Michelle Phillips
As a founding member of the pop group the Mamas and the Papas, Michelle Phillips' clear, bright soprano was an integral element of the group's soaring four-part harmonies, which helped to make songs like "California Dreamin'," "Monday, Monday" and "I Saw Her Today" hits in the late 1960s. Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998, Phillips was a survivor in both the literal and figurative sense, having both outlived all the other Mamas and Papas and gaining control of her own life and legacy.
