Cardiff vs Swansea predictions

Swansea have a strong recent record against bitter rivals Cardiff, taking 16 points from the last seven matches and look the likelier winners of Saturday's clash in the Welsh capital.

Luke Williams' Swans are 12th in the Championship, seven points outside the top six, and remain hopeful of mounting a push towards the playoffs.

Improvements will be sought and the attacking third is sure to be a priority because there have been numerous instances of Swansea failing to make the most of their excellent approach play.

Swansea's expected goals (35.7) is appreciably higher than their goal tally (30), so it is imperative that they find a more clinical touch in front of goal.

Liam Cullen has done his bit, bagging eight goals despite a personal xG of 7.75 but he could do with some support and it may have to come from a late bit of business in the transfer window.

Scoring goals has also been an issue for relegation-threatened Cardiff, who have netted 26 times in 26 league fixtures.

The Bluebirds were the better side in Tuesday's 1-1 draw against out-of-sorts Watford, but failed to put the game to bed and ended up with a disappointing outcome which stretched their winless run at the Cardiff City Stadium to six games.

The point was enough to lift Omer Riza's side out of the bottom three, however, Cardiff have lost more home games (seven) than any team in the division and that tally could increase against a Swansea team anxious to breathe some life into their promotion push.
