Extremely Rare Art Deco 89 Black Enamel and Rhinestone Couture Pendulum Brooch

This stunning brooch comes from the short-lived design house Art Deco 89. Because the company lasted less than a year and its pieces retailed for hundreds of dollars, items from this collection are exceedingly difficult to find. Christie's has auctioned some of the brand's high end jewelry, including a pair of earrings owned and worn by Elizabeth Taylor. This particular numbered brooch features a large gold tone peaked half moon frame lined with glossy black enamel and two rows of large, brilliant, clear rhinestones. A heavy rounded black cabochon sits atop the piece and supports the pendulum's shaft, which is formed from two slim, round gold tone bars. The swinging arm is anchored by a matching cabochon that sits in an articulated setting. This allows the arm to swing side to side while the lower cabochon is allowed subtle front to back movement. This collector's pin embodies the Art Deco style. It manages to convey both a clean, formal structure and a great sense of movement. The piece is in excellent condition. It carries the company's mark as well as the number B316. The enamel and cabochons show no wear. All stones are firmly in place.
