my cottage sunroom

when you assemble stuff into collections, you realize things about yourself... believe it or not, I had no idea i liked country kitchens- obviously, my eye is drawn to bright printed fabrics, bold color, natural textures and aged re purposed treasures. so i think i'd like to add a knock out to the side of my kitchen with used windows set into an earthbag indoor/ outdoor planter wall with a stained, stenciled and glossed raised pallet wood floor. i call it a sun room, but it's just a sunny little eat in niche within the kitchen. maybe a three sided custom booth made of brightly painted pallet shelves turned on their sides featuring matching doors with upcycled painted handle silver spoon door pulls. scrumptiously colored scrap fabric is made into quilted seat cushion covers that sit atop the long side of each of the shelves. just below the used windows, matching quilted back cushions are attached to the low earthbag walls while bolsters and throw pillows frame and accent the informal dining area. mix matched salvaged dining chairs are upholstered to compliment the booth and are hung on the kitchen wall like shaker chairs until they are needed around the table. perhaps a couple of sets of hand painted attached plastic bottle self feeding planters, called window farms, should adorn the two side window walls of the niche. hopefully they will provide salad veggies all year long. the central wall boasts cafe curtains. handmade glasses, plates, napkins, table cloths... adorn a centralized spool table with a dainty floral etched border on the tinted and glazed poured earth table top. the centerpiece will vary- maybe a handmade tiered cake plate, a wine bottle vase, a bowl of flowering salad veggies... sounds like complete contemporary country charm to me!
