A man who was reportedly assaulted by two men with baseball bats in a retail park car park remains in hospital.

Last month Thames Valley Police (TVP) appealed for witnesses following the grievous bodily harm incident on the edge of Oxford, which happened between 7pm and 8pm on Friday, December 20 in the car park of Wickes, Aldi and Home Bargains in Botley.

Police say a man in his 40s was hit by a black Fiat 500.

Two men then got out of the vehicle and continued to assault the victim with baseball bats before making off in their vehicle.

The man sustained serious injuries to his leg and face.

Today (January 8) a spokesperson for TVP said: "No arrests have been made in relation to this incident, and the victim remains in a stable condition in hospital at this time."

The two men were described as having a tall and lean build, and were seen to be wearing all black clothing and balaclavas.

They were both carrying metal or wooden baseball bats, but police believe it to be a targeted attack.

At the time of the appeal, investigating officer Detective Constable Mari Cottle-M'boge, said: “We believe this was a targeted attack and there is no threat to the wider public.

“I am appealing to anyone who has information about this assault to contact Thames Valley Police as soon as possible.

“If you saw the assault, have dash-cam footage of the assault then please come forward to us.

“You can contact us via our website, a police station or by calling 101, quoting the investigation reference number 43240615834."
