March 2016 Product Spotlight Slideshow: Machining Centers
This month’s Modern Equipment Review Spotlight focuses on horizontal, vertical and five-axis machining centers.
Toyoda’s FA1050S 5-Axis uses this dual-drive trunnion table to support workpieces ranging in weight to 4,400 lbs, maintaining performance with a low center of gravity and side-by-side pallet exchange.
The smaller Dixi 125 from DMG MORI is available in a four- or five-axis configuration and with the company’s Celos app-based user interface.
The Mikron Mill P 800 U ST from GF Machining Solutions can perform four-axis simultaneous turning and incorporates a 20,000-rpm HSK T63 spindle.
Available from Absolute Machine Tools, this Johnford SV-60H’s heavily-ribbed Meehanite construction and four oversized boxways in the Y axis help to eliminate vibration while promoting X-axis accuracy, good surface finishes and long tool life.
Mazak’s HCN-6800 is designed for large-part machining, using an NC rotary table, which rotates 90 degrees in 0.001-degree increments for precision, and a 50-hp spindle for high metal removal rates.
The Mikron Multistep XT-200 combines the productivity of a transfer machine with the flexibility of a machining center, with as many as four machining modules (as pictured) each containing two working spindles for turning, milling and drilling.
SNK America’s CMV-100 features this wide, +30/-120-degree A-axis tilting spindle head, enabling undercuts in a single setup.
The Tongtai CT-350 from Absolute Machine Tools provides a wide column, making it torsion-resistant while performing five-axis cutting.
Sharptech’s Super 1320 is designed for mold processing, with features like pre-loaded C3 ballscrews on all three axes for eliminated backlash and high performance.
The highly rigid MU-8000V from Okuma America provides a low center of gravity in workpiece movement to accommodate difficult materials as heavy as 700 kg (1,540 lbs).
