'The Chicago Sun-Times' Misses Its Tuesday Print Date

Chicago Sun-Times print readers did not receive their issues on Tuesday due to “unexpected issues with the printing presses at our vendor, Chicago Tribune Company,” the paper says in an editorial.

It adds, “This is the first time the newsroom can remember the newspaper not being printed and delivered on the intended day,” the Sun-Time adds.

The facility in question also prints the Tribune, the Daily Herald, The Wall Street JournalThe New York Times and other publications. It was not clear at deadline if these papers also faced printing problems.

Home delivery subscribers were to receive both Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s print issues on Wednesday. In addition, they were to be provided with Tuesday’s e-paper for free. And the Taste section is to run in Thursday’s edition instead of Wednesday’s.

Tribune Publishing was scheduled to vacate its printing facility at Freedom Center in Chicago early this month and move it to a former Paddock Publications facility in Schaumburg, Illinois. The Freedom Center plant is being torn down and will be replaced by a Bally’s casino.
