The Boston Herald, an Alden Global Capital property, has laid off three employees.
Those affected include a full-time sports
reporter, a part-time photographer and an account executive, according to Boston Globe media reporter Aidan Ryan.
“It’s unfortunate because it seems like both the online version and the print version
have done well as of late,” said Boston Newspaper Guild President Scott Steeves, Ryan
reports.
The publication already had a small staff: an estimated 24 in 2020, down from 240 a few years earlier, although this comparison may be
inexact.
The Herald does not have a newsroom.
It was not clear at deadline if other Alden Global Capital publications are
seeing reductions.
