Many organizations overlook efforts to maintain high morale and employee engagement during a post-merger integration, prioritizing other aspects of the PMI process. However, a recent analysis from Boston Consulting Group (BCG) found that 54% of transactions fail to increase shareholder returns, often due to poor management of the employee experience. Two-thirds of mergers face significant employee resistance, and poor change management can cause nearly 50% of employees to consider leaving. Effective management is essential to prevent declining employee satisfaction and the loss of key personnel during integrations. Discover how these strategies can enhance employee engagement by putting people in the focus. Read more https://on.bcg.com/47rZKkz.

How did a global biotech company use a tailored, holistic organizational-design approach to achieve $1 billion in gross cost savings and an optimized blueprint for growth? Here’s their (scientific) method for success: 🔬 Observation: Faced with revenue declines and reduced operation margin, one company worked with BCG to implement a transformative organizational redesign. 📝 Hypothesis: A cascaded and holistic organization-design approach can effectively reduce operational costs and increase efficiency, enabling reinvestment in strategic growth areas. 🧪 Method: BCG's proprietary tools will center the transformation around three areas: the operating model blueprint, driving greater accountability, and organizational design and talent selection. 📈 Results: Speak for themselves. GenAI boosts productivity, but what happens when workers use it for tasks beyond their skills? To find out, BCG Henderson Institute and BCG X conducted a scientific experiment, with Emma Wiles from Boston University, and technical support from Pamela Mishkin of OpenAI's Economic Impacts Research. The study found that, with the help of GenAI, BCG consultants with no prior experience of coding or statistics were able to write code, appropriately apply machine learning models, and correct erroneous statistical processes. In fact, participants who used GenAI achieved an average score equivalent to 86% of the benchmark set by experienced data scientists. It means that a new type of worker is entering the global talent pool: The GenAI-Augmented Worker. Read the full research here: https://lnkd.in/ezsWHXJu

When it comes to understanding how employees cope during periods of change, leaders need to acknowledge both their employees’ anxiety and the inadequacy of relying too heavily on their own experiences. The best way to do that is by monitoring and measuring employee emotions—just as you track other business metrics. In her latest Forbes column, Boston Consulting Group (BCG)'s Julia Dhar, explains how doing so throughout the change process will provide leaders with the information and insights they need to fine-tune, or adjust the speed of the change program, maximizing cooperation and participation and increasing the likelihood of success.
