Governments, businesses, and technology leaders around the world are paying close attention to the recent growth in AI innovation and the increased availability of consumer-facing generative AI programs such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Microsoft’s Bing Chat.
Alongside this rapid rise, questions around responsible use and governance have come to the fore. As Brad Smith says in a new Microsoft paper, Governing AI: A Blueprint for the Future: “How can we use this new technology to solve our problems? How do we avoid or manage new problems it might create? How do we control technology that is so powerful?”
