Want to MOTIVATE Your Workforce? Here's How.

The success of any organization depends on its employees. Having motivated employees is the key to any organization's success. Instilling motivation isn't easy, but it is necessary if you want your employees to grow and stay satisfied with their jobs. With almost a year of the price per barrel of oil in the low thirties, it can be hard to motivate your workforce. Employee morale is at an all-time low across the industry. The looming fear of possible layoffs and company-wide spending freezes lead to poor workforce performance and employee optimization. There are challenges with trying to motivate employees since everyone is unique with different values and ideas. If you want to be successful in instilling company-wide motivation, you have to find a strategy to reach each individual.

To change this low morale you need to boost your workforce confidence. If your employees are confident in their positions they can accomplish almost anything. So how do you make them more confident in their positions? You invest in them. That's the bottom line. It really is that simple. So the next question is how do you invest in your workforce? Training. Yes, training. Employees notice when you're investing in them. They know that you're making them more qualified for their positions or even new job tasks. This builds a level of confidence that is superior to just on-the-job work experience.

Generic training will not work for employee motivation. Giving a one off training program that is the same for everybody doesn’t inspire confidence. Making the employee feel valued by training them to do specific tasks does. Therefore the kind of training required to motivate your employees is job or task specific. Giving them that individual attention works. Letting them know that not anyone can just walk right in and do their job makes them feel valued. But developing a documented job specific training program also helps with succession when employees are promoted.

Training employees to do new tasks instills hope and invites the opportunity for advancement. Who doesn't like the opportunity to advance in their organization? It also leads to greater job satisfaction with the employee knowing that they're doing exactly what is expected of them. There's also another great benefit. Training your workforce in job specific training will lead to greater efficiencies across the board ultimately leading to greater profitability.
