"You might encounter many defeats, but you must never be defeated. In fact, it might be necessary to confront defeat." My failures have led to my greatest success. If you don’t try something, you’ll never know. Confront defeat, keep trying, keep figuring it out! 🎥 Maya Angelou

I met Dr. Angelou when I was 19. The encounter changed my life. I am forever grateful how she touch my soul and helped to shape me into a “Phenomenal Woman.”

I love Maya Angelou. What a truly remarkable woman she was. Thanks Shelley Zalis for sharing. To me defeat is like the gym and it’s saying to you “see you same time tomorrow?” We only get out of it what we put in. So treat each defeat not as something negative but as strength training in resiliency.

Great and strong message. I’ve never been defeated and keep trying, and the persistence all need as well as the elevation of others every day.

Gives me chills for all the right reasons!! I could watch this 20 times over and still not be tired of watching and listening to Maya Angelou

Its easy to admit failure but to keep resilient, survive as a single mother to a special needs child, to have been brutally attacked and strangled and left with a brain injury and a huge list of permanent and untreatable conditions, to have been destroyed and belittled by Narcissistics, to be left unemployable and navigate over all hurdles life throws and yet still managing to bring a ray of sunshine to my sweet child's face is the only thing that matters in life, we all need to learn to laugh its the best tonic and its costs nothing...

Also, let’s not forget she says to ‘laugh a lot. Laugh a lot…. at the silliest things.’ I always attempt laughter, joy, humor and lightness into my days.
