🏠 Get involved locally 🏢 💻 Last night, I attended a fantastic networking event in Chester (hosted by Code Nation and sponsored by Hyperloop Recruitment) with the theme 'Unlock Your Potential in Tech' 🔏💾 Often overlooked by larger nearby cities such as Liverpool and Manchester, Chester can often be seen as just 'a lovely weekend away' 🌞 but last night proved that there's lots of local data and tech talent, and it was great to see so many people come together 'just because'. This wasn't a work thing, I'd had a message through LinkedIn about the event, and has some free time so why not. 🚀 We started off with Emma Dolling, as she provided us with raw honest insight on her experiences of being a woman in the tech landscape coupled with her presentation on Women in Tech: Navigating Unique Journeys and Challenges. There are a host of resources available to support both businesses and individuals on an often challenging-to-approach topic, and I'm sure Emma would be more than willing to point you in the right direction if you drop her a message. 📊 Steve Hulmes then outlined his 5 Essential Steps to Advance Your Data Career. I found that as a data team, we're ticking most of these off on a regular basis, but it was an important reminder to acknowledge this and make sure that we don't lose sight of the things that we're doing right. With alcohol and pizza to boot, I'll definitely be looking out for future events, and can't wait to connect with more people from the local area 🙋♂️ #Networking #WomenInTech #DataScience #ProfessionalDevelopment #TechEvents

As the #CivicTech tools market is growing, digital solutions streamlining processes are also increasingly diversifying! For example, novoville, a citizen engagement platform, came up with a way to solve specific public sector challenges tied to the maintenance of shared properties in Scotland. Novoville’s Shared Repairs service was created, a digital ecosystem facilitating not only the process of finding traders, but also providing financial forecasting related to this problem. This civic tech tool's functionality is one of the great examples of how digital tools can help solve different types of challenges in the public sphere. 📖 We included Novoville into our catalogue of Civic Tech tools for participation available in Europe, as a part of our Civic Tech Market Report 2025. In the report, you can find more inspiring ideas and case studies of how different tools were used across projects and countries in the world. If you are looking for new ideas on how to streamline or simplify community engagement, or if you are just getting started with public participation and civic tech, our new market report can definitely be inspiring. 🔗 To explore the Report and find out how to get it, please visit: https://lnkd.in/gc95TDjt #civictech #digitalparticipation #civictechmarketreport #participationfactory

What is a Tech Council? There are approximately 100 independent technology councils in North America, and 66 of them are part of the Technology Councils of North America (TECNA). A tech council is a vital organization that brings together technology companies, professionals, academia, government and other stakeholders to foster innovation, collaboration, and growth within a specific region or industry. TECNA is an "association of associations" representing over 66 tech councils across the continent, advocating for the interests of small and midsize technology companies. It is a "best practices" organization for tech council staff to learn and grow. Plus, TECNA's lobbying efforts in Washington DC and Ottawa are instrumental in shaping policies that support tech growth and innovation. In many cities these councils play a crucial role in their communities by providing various services and initiatives, including: Education: Offering workshops, seminars, and resources to help tech professionals stay ahead of industry trends and advancements. Community/Networking: Creating opportunities for tech professionals to connect, collaborate, and share ideas through events and networking platforms. Advocacy: Representing the interests of the tech community in policy discussions, ensuring that the voices of small and midsize companies are heard. At the Austin Technology Council we are proud to offer many of these services. However, we aim to expand our efforts and become a more valuable grassroots organization. Our goal is to enhance our educational programs, community-building activities, and advocacy efforts to better serve our tech community.... but we can only stand strong and united with the assistance of our most civic minded leaders. It is important to all of us in Central Texas that Austin remains a model tech hub and innovation center that other communities aspire to emulate. How can we ensure this vision? It starts with you. Help us collaborate and continue to build a thriving, innovative tech ecosystem in Austin. #AustinTech #Innovation #Community #Advocacy #AustinTexas
