I find this SO infuriating. Add to it the pay gap between those white actresses and their male co-stars - we have such a long way to go, I can't even see the light at the end of that tunnel. Is it a sign of me getting old and bitter? I hope at least younger people are more optimistic and have faith in a more just, fair and equal future...

"Never settle for less," sounds good . I think we need the playbook on how to make that happen. In a negotiation, you need to know your BATNA (Best Alternative To No Agreement.) So, when the people with the power and the pocketbooks say no, you need to know what you're doing. Walking away or staying both have a cost. Advice on the playbook is welcome.

Viola (and Taraji Henson who famously and tearfully opened this dialog) is a woman after my own heart. She speaks truths and will be told she's ungrateful.. and I am here for both. IF YOU GET IT, YOU GET IT. Simone Biles corrected a media outlet, during an interview, for labeling her the [insert name here] of gymnastics as if Biles' attributes needed to be validated, by erasing her name and identity, and therefore, Biles' talents/game changing contributions.

So true. For so many of us. In so many ways. There is having a voice. And there is being heard. They are not the same thing. My gratitude, admiration, and empathy go out to those who still WORK, in the face of all the obstacles, again and again, to make their voices heard 🙏

"You pay me what I'm worth"...Great line... But to say this women need to know what they're actually worth of, what they're capable of...Never settle for less though it takes a bit of a time as compared to others... Everyone has their own pace of time...Just wait for the right opportunity to grab on..Know what you want...When you're not able to achieve anything after many efforts.. always remember, you're not worthless, you're just at the wrong place... THAT'S WHAT I LEARNT!!!

Hope we can build a world where all women, especially women of color, can stand up for themselves and be vocal about their worth, without being vilified.

I agree!. Sad Viola Davis and many more truly accomplished women like her have to voice their need to be paid their worth with equity. Women need to come together as one and leave racialised lines behind , doesn’t serve a purpose. We are stronger together, we are after all fighting for same causes at end of the day to be seen, heard and validated including the pay gap, with equity . Same applies in health disparities . So I applaud Viola Davis for voicing it , I hope her rightful remuneration follows .

Screaming from the mountain tops: after you do the work on yourself and can add value to ANY room your walk in KNOW YOUR WORTH and be willing and to walk away if the person across the table starts to stutter after they have heard, read and listened to you explain your value!
