That I'm Jen Porter and I'm really happy to be here representing our values team. Our values are we are caring, we are inclusive and we are courageous. So one of the things that we're doing today is that we're giving back to our community. What we've done is we've packed 3000 hygiene kits with essential products, some of them Colgate, some of them not Coalgate, and we just worked as a team to bring it all together and really do something for our communities. Hi, I'm Madison with Clean the World and CTW events. The kids today are going to an organization called the Bowery Mission where they're able to support those who don't have access to hygiene supplies through soup kitchens, food banks, and homeless shelters across the New York City area. Someone has to care for those on the margins of society. When a company like Colgate Palmolive steps up and and helps us do our work, it makes all the difference in the world. And so in that way, I truly do believe that. These values go outside the walls of Colgate and truly do make the world a better place.

Over the last year, I have fallen in love with the Element Apothec. It is incredible to be a woman in this era, but it can also be incredibly frustrating. I love learning about brands that grow out of a woman's refusal to be given a "death" or "doom" sentence. That is how Element Apothec was born, and I can relate to how that feels.
Element Apothec (EA) is an internal and external beauty, sleep and pain CPG company. I have been using their lotion for months and it has become a nightly ritual in my routine. EA works hard to use functional plants and zero toxic ingredients, so that they can heal us without side effects!
EA is one of the only lotions that works to relieve pain for me AND has made an important pledge to not use Phenoxyethanol. This is an ingredient I suffered side effects from for my whole life. I didn't know until I was 35 and interviewed Cassandra McClure on my podcast and she told me a story about Barbara Paldus , that my eczema was induced by toxic ingredients in my hand soap, cosmetics, face washes, cleaners and shampoos and conditioners. Once I removed it, my skin issues went away but inflammation from stress did not. Knowing that I am highly allergic to this ingredient should feel good and protect me but it doesn't make buying cosmetics or other household items easy on me. I have had to read long ingredient lists to figure out if something I am using is going to hurt me. This ingredient is in everything, including "organic" ingredients. This is #frustrating and #timeconsuming.....but #plantmedicine and #plantcosmetics, #plantbasedbeauty are where it is at.
We have come so far as women, but have still so much work to do. Especially around women's health, which has long been neglected and served through data amassed through male dominated trials and recommendations.
After working with Davina Kaonohi and using their products, I now Iove Element Apothec even more and know that their lotion and tinctures are now a staple in my life.
Since I am giving them love, we should also talk about the pledges and added layers of care that Element Apothec is taking and putting in place. Many of the pledges I see EA making, make me feel safe and I recognize that my health, Earth and Earth health are woven into their core values. Few categories can escape the increasing consumer demand for sustainability.
In many cases, sustainable options are to become expected as standard for the category.
But this doesn’t always have to come at the expense of the supplier.
There are some categories where shoppers see sustainability as part of their value equation when selecting a product from the shelf.
They see VALUE in it
And are willing to pay MORE for it
These are categories where it makes sense for suppliers to dial up communication when it comes to sustainable options.
There are a few categories on the list below we might expect to see.
But others aren’t so obvious.
It goes to show how easy it can be to miss an opportunity without the right shopper facts to hand.

As a small business, sustainability shows up in a variety of small and large ways! From offering vegan and plant-based boba tea and food options (without additional upcharges for substitutions) and reusable jars and biodegradable straw options in our shops to recycling and composting our ingredients to sourcing a variety of organic and direct-trade loose leaf teas, there’s many ways we practice sustainability at Cha Community.
Sustainable practices also include supporting and collaborating alongside local small businesses, non-profit organizations, and engaging in racial equity work. Majority of our retail merchandise are sourced from Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC)-owned small businesses and we are passionate about hosting our bi-annual BIPOC market alongside local Asian American artist Designs with Jamie to support and bring increased awareness to fellow BIPOC-owned small businesses & artists in our community.
