Check out what is happening at Mountaineer Middle School (MMS) in Monongalia County! 🎉 Ms. Kinder engages students with hands-on learning in our Exploratory Shop classes! These courses are part of the West Virginia Department of Education's Middle School Career Technical Education Pilot Program, designed to expose students to career pathways through hands-on experiences and technical skills. Operation Breathe Better, a student-led initiative by Webster County High School's Highlander Health Science program, is making a meaningful impact throughout the community. The students led educational presentations, starting with Webster Springs Elementary School on September 12, 2024, followed by a second session at Hacker Valley Elementary on September 17, 2024. These presentations featured engaging lessons on respiratory health such as lung function, disease prevention, and practical wellness habits. 🫁🏥 Highlander Health Science President Brynna Pyle reflected on the success of the presentation at Webster Springs Elementary, sharing, “The students were very excited and engaged with the information we presented. I believe they understood the importance of respiratory wellness.” The presentations offered insights into respiratory anatomy, the dangers of smoking, pollution prevention, and respiratory hygiene. #WVEd #ThisIsCTE #CareerTechWV

In this week's #KeepingConnectED, Lincoln County Schools Transportation Director Peggy Stone hosts a mock school bus accident event designed to train emergency first responders and bus operators. 🚌 Actors portrayed injured passengers during this hands-on training opportunity.
