Last night, our Site Development department was part of the team honored with a Golden Hammer Award from Historic Richmond for their work on the Highland Terrace Apartments! RK&K provided civil/site design services on this affordable housing redevelopment project. Highland Terrace Apartments was praised for the team's commitment to conservation, preserving the façade of the former Mizpah Presbyterian Church. We are #RKKProud to be involved in repairing the Pigeon River Gorge section of I-40 following damage from Hurricane Helene. We're excited to get this vital corridor back open and useable for the community! #WeAreRKK
It is great working in a state that is so concerned for its citizens. This is a video from a washed out section of I-40 in North Carolina near the Tennessee border. The eastbound lanes are completely gone. RK&K met with NCDOT last week to kick-off our design for repairing the interstate. NCDOT is committed to opening the highway as quickly and efficiently as possible. They are truly dedicated to our citizens and the traveling public. It's an honor to work with NCDOT on such a critical project and with such devoted people. Thank you NCDOT as well as our major subs WSP and Schnabel Engineering.

Team members from our Roanoke office had a blast volunteering and meeting the engineers of tomorrow at the 3rd Annual G.I.R.L. Construction Experience. This free event provides girls ages 5-18 the opportunity to learn and experience real-life construction, engineering, and STEM concepts. RK&K hosted the "Float A Boat" activity, where attendees learned about Archimedes’ principle by constructing aluminum foil boats and testing how much weight their boats could hold when in water. "It is so important for girls to explore opportunities in engineering and construction. Through engaging activities, the girls acquire valuable skills and insights, helping them understand that with dedication and smart choices, their dreams can become a reality," said Engineer Samruddhi Desai. #WeAreRKK

We went in the field with Construction Manager Chris Kirby, CCM to see how he is helping RK&K provide construction management and inspection services for the expansion of the Leesburg Police Department Public Safety Facility. Today we were #RKKProud to be a part of the ground breaking ceremony celebrating the start of the Apex Peakway SW Connector Project in the Town of Apex, NC! RK&K’s team is providing construction administration and inspection services for this municipal bridge project which will provide greater connectivity and mobility for motorists and pedestrians. The project includes a bridge over South Salem Street and CSX Transportation railroad, widening of South Salem Street, and a connector loop from Apex Peakway to South Salem Street. Additional project features include retaining walls, new sections of curb and gutter, sidewalks, storm drainage, and new traffic signals.
