If you missed our live conversation, the recording of Tideline’s most recent Compass Series panel, “Climate Transition: The Essential Role of Public Markets” is now available at the link below. Thank you to our esteemed speakers - Heather Conforto Beatty, Jorge Colmenares, Brett Hoff and Tetiana Kyslytsyna, as well as our seasoned moderator Ben Thornley for an enlightening conversation on public markets opportunities available to impact investors. #impinv Watch the recording here: https://lnkd.in/gS5m5HYE Below are some key takeaways from the conversation: - To date, over two thirds of impact assets have been directed to private markets, with efforts to drive climate impact following the same stream. However, as private markets typically comprise smaller components of asset portfolios, a comprehensive climate transition will require public markets to take the lead. - Research on the growth of climate technology suggests that two thirds of the technology needed to tackle climate change effectively already exists – just not at scale! There are multiple opportunities for public investments to drive the distribution of climate solutions. - In public equities, asset owners are increasingly interested in ‘plugging in’ to the green transformation process. They’re scanning for well-defined sustainability frameworks, compliant with best market practice, and committed to the intentionality behind these contributions, placing climate at the heart of business models. The growth in these engagements is also prompting managers to be more diligent in accurate monitoring, measurement, and reporting of sustainability outcomes, as investors’ capital becomes linked to the quality of these frameworks. - With public fixed income, both the demand and supply sides of the market are working to boost climate appetite. Asset managers are increasingly aware of their responsibility to drive forward demand, which simultaneously requires de-risking on the issuer’s front. - Public markets’ capacity to achieve climate impact at scale is becoming further understood, and actionable, through the work of firms such as Citi, Congruence, ScopeFour Capital, and UBS, who are charting the path to more sustainable financial markets through their innovative tools, guidelines, and experienced insight.

Tideline’s thought leadership is featured in the summer issue of Asia Impact Management Review. The article, “Applying Global Insights to Accelerate the Sustainable and Impact Investing Journey in Asia,” co-authored by Deegan Lee and Somerset G., draws on Tideline’s decade of experience globally, including over a dozen engagements in the APAC region. While impact investors in Asia have played important roles in contributing to sustainable and impact investing best practice on a global scale, the ecosystem in Asia can benefit from global lessons related to the acceleration and adoption of best practices connected to impact measurement and management, policy, and the green transition. Among the recommendations: - Unify around a common vision for SII; - Strengthen impact management by leveraging global frameworks and standards; - Lead the world in impact integrity through regulatory standardization and the uptake of independent verification; - Accelerate green transition finance through the harmonization of regional and global classification systems Access the full article here: https://lnkd.in/gdBD-9xC
