About us
Loveland Living Planet Aquarium is a 501c3 non-profit organization that provides the community with countless educational opportunities to understand and respect our precious Earth and its living ecosystems, from the Utah deserts and mountains, to rain forest habitats, to the planet’s vast oceans. Loveland Living Planet Aquarium has become one of Utah´s most unique and popular attractions, and is definitely a must-see if you are planning a trip to Utah. Exhibits feature sharks, rays, seahorses and jellyfish as well as octopus, eels, piranha, a rescued Green sea turtle and Gentoo penguins! It is a unique opportunity for the many landlocked Utahans, particularly children, who have not previously had the chance to interact with such creatures.

This #AnimalCloseup showcases a creature whose hair grows opposite of other mammals! 🌿 This animal's hair parts on its stomach and points toward its back. This peak of hair is called the drip tip, making it easier for water to run off its body since it rains a lot where they are from. 🌧️ Any guesses as to who it could be?

We have "otterly" exciting news! 🦦🥳 We are now part of the Otters for Waters program with the River Otter Ecology Project, an organization that aims to inspire action to protect the vital habitats of the North American river otter, a charismatic ambassador for healthy aquatic ecosystems. But we need everyone’s help surveying Utah’s river otter population, so enjoy this quick how-to video about reporting your potential river otter sightings and how to use the Otter Spotter page. If you have questions about the differences between an otter and other wetland creatures or want to learn more about our partnership with the ROEP, click the link in our bio and visit our blog page! 🙌

It's Penguin Awareness Day! ❄️🐧 Today is a special day dedicated to raising awareness about penguins, and it’s one of our favorite days of the year! Here are some fun facts about the 22 gentoo penguins we have here at the Aquarium: 🏃♀️Gentoo penguins are the fastest swimming penguins, with top speeds of 22 miles per hour 🦵Penguin knees sit at an angle, so they are always squatting 💪Gentoos are the third largest penguin species 📏On average, an adult weighs 12 pounds and is 30 inches tall 🐟An adult gentoo will dive up to 450 times a day to find food and has been recorded holding its breath for up to seven minutes
