There wasn't a dry eye in the room as Kiana Newman shared her incredible journey at the last THA Board meeting, when she was awarded the Geraldine Barnes Award for Personal Development. Her story is one of perseverance, bravery, and deep devotion for her nine-year-old son, Michael. Kiana's journey hasn't been easy. She faced the heartbreaking loss of her mother while pregnant, and yet, she found the courage to move forward, driven by her belief that anything is possible. Kiana has dedicated herself to building a better future, not just for herself but for her son, who continues to thrive under her care and guidance. Her achievements are remarkable, from graduating Spa Therapy School with honors to passing her massagist license exam, Kiana's determination shines through. She's not just an esthetician but a source of encouragement and support for her community, where she passionately advocates for self-care and self-confidence. Kiana's faith has been her anchor through it all. We were so honored to recognize her incredible progress. Jason Cruz-Ayala - Assisted Housing Department Jason started as a project-based housing specialist and was promoted to a senior housing specialist in 2020. His commitment to teamwork, strong work ethic, and dedication to employee development make him an invaluable asset to our team. Jason's completion of Lead and Succeed, Six-Sigma Yellow Belt, and other professional development opportunities shows his drive for continuous improvement. He faces challenges head-on, embraces shared ideas, and is always focused on improving department efficiencies. We also commend Jason for his dedication, commuting from Ocala every day. John Gutowski - Facilities Department John, a Maintenance Mechanic at Robles Park Village, has been a key player in our resident relocation project and clearing out vacant Robles units. Despite overcoming health challenges, including cardiac surgery, John continues to bring determination, joy, and positive energy to his work. His holiday greeting phone calls every Thanksgiving and Christmas show his deep care for our residents. We are incredibly grateful for John's strength, dedication, and infectious good spirit. We are thrilled to share the incredible success of our recent Back to School Bash! We provided a day of fun and recreation for our kids before they head back to school, but more importantly, thanks to the overwhelming generosity of our donors, through this initiative we were able to donate a bookbag filled with essential school supplies to almost 500 children in assisted housing. Even more impactful, we are proud to announce that we had a surplus of over 400 bags, which were distributed to other kids in need throughout our community. A special thank you goes out to our major donors—Renew & Transform Ministries, NFL Alumni Association, and Coca-Cola Company—whose support made these achievements possible.
