About us
State government is more than senators, representatives, and elected officials. We build highways, provide drivers licenses, protect our children and vulnerable populations, create jobs, connect Hoosiers to job opportunities, maintain state parks, train law enforcement officers, and we run museums and hospitals. We also provide unemployment insurance, disability, and workers compensation, among countless other services. We're 30,000 strong and still have more work to do. Find out where you fit with us at WorkForIndiana.IN.gov.

In October of 2021, Indiana Department of Correction employee Alexandra Conley set out on a mission to run a race in all 92 Indiana counties. Last month, she completed her goal with a final race in Daviess County! Conley also has plans to complete a race in all 50 states and she even ran on the famous Forrest Gump Highway. The next races on her list are the New York City Marathon in November 2024 and the Tokyo Marathon in March of 2025. We love to see State of Indiana employees going after big goals! Lynda Ruble is in our mentor spotlight today! She's a Senior Court Reporter for the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission and this is a portion of what her nominator had to say about her: "I was hired by Lynda Ruble in 1988 as a Court Reporter. Even in 1988 when I started, she had a stellar reputation among the utilities and their attorneys and the Court of Appeals. Not many people are familiar with our niche profession, but we are responsible for reporting every hearing before the IURC, preparing transcripts for proposed orders and/or briefs, [and more]. Outside of my skill on the Stenograph machine, she has taught me everything I know, and even after almost 36 years under her tutelage, I still learn something from her almost every day. She has taught me to be proud of the work I do. I will forever be grateful to her for her teachings, insight, and professionalism." Keep up the great work, Lynda!

This month, the Hoosier Lottery is celebrating the 35th anniversary of its first ticket sale in 1989. But where does the money paid for these tickets go? After paying its players and retailers, as well as other operating costs, proceeds from the Hoosier Lottery help support the Teachers’ Retirement Fund, Local Police and Firefighters’ pensions, and more.
