As we continue to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, we’re shining a spotlight on Erick Arreola who joined the team at the US Bank Tower in March 2024 as a Maintenance Attendant. With a strong work ethic and a dedication to ensuring the building operates smoothly, Erick plays a key role in maintaining the high standards of the property. ❓ Can you tell us about your cultural background and heritage? 🔵 I was born and raised in Los Angeles, but my family's roots are deeply planted in Mexico. My father comes from Veracruz and my mother from Michoacán. Their union brought together two rich cultural traditions under one roof. My father, an engineer and passionate musician, exposed me to a wide spectrum of music—from mariachi to Frank Sinatra—which had a profound impact on me. He would often perform and taught me to play the guitar, igniting my love for mariachi, rock en Español, indie rock, and 80s music. My mother, an exceptional cook, filled our home with the authentic flavors of her homeland. ❓ What does Hispanic Heritage Month mean to you? 🔵 Hispanic Heritage Month is a time to celebrate the rich contributions of our community to the fabric of this country. For me, it's an opportunity to honor my family's journey and the traditions that have shaped my life. It's also a moment to reflect on our collective progress and to inspire future generations. It's a reminder of the sacrifices made by my parents and grandparents, who are my greatest role models. ❓ What inspired you to pursue your current career path? 🔵 My inspiration stems from a combination of familial influence and personal experiences. Witnessing my father excel as an engineer while nurturing his passion for music showed me the possibility of balancing multiple interests. Working hands-on with machinery and tools on our homestead sparked my fascination with how things work, motivating me to start as a Maintenance Attendant. ❓ Are there any challenges you’ve faced in your career that you feel were influenced by your cultural background? How did you overcome them? 🔵 Navigating a technical field as a Hispanic individual has presented challenges, including dealing with stereotypes and underrepresentation. I've overcome these obstacles by embracing the values my family taught me—resilience, humility, and a strong work ethic. Viewing every person as an opportunity to learn, I've sought mentorship and continuously expanded my skills. These efforts have been crucial in turning challenges into opportunities for growth. ❓ How do you see the role of diversity and inclusion evolving in the workplace? 🔵 I believe that diversity and inclusion are increasingly being recognized as essential for innovation and success. Organizations are starting to value the unique perspectives that come from a diverse workforce. This evolution not only enriches the workplace but also creates opportunities for underrepresented communities.

We're continuing our celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month by shining today's spotlight on Brayant Benitez! Brayant Benitez joined the Accounting team as Accounts Receivable Coordinator in August 2023. He manages daily accounts receivable for 7 World Trade Center, US Bank Tower, 1735 Market Street, 120 Broadway, 55 Broad Street, and Inspire Workspace. ❓ Can you tell us about your cultural background and heritage? 🔵 My upbringing in Orange, New Jersey, with Mexican heritage, has been a distinctive experience. Although I was born and raised in New Jersey, my parents, who immigrated from Mexico City, ensured that our household was deeply infused with Mexican influences. My mother mandated that we speak Spanish at home, observe a variety of Mexican holidays, and savor traditional Mexican cuisine. This blend of cultural experiences has afforded me a rich and diverse perspective, allowing me to navigate and appreciate the intersection of two distinct worlds. ❓ What does Hispanic Heritage Month mean to you? 🔵 Hispanic Heritage Month holds significant meaning for me as a time to celebrate and reflect on the rich and diverse contributions of Hispanic cultures. It is an opportunity to honor the heritage, history, and achievements of Hispanic communities, recognizing the profound impact they have had on various aspects of society, from art and literature to science and politics. ❓ Are there any cultural traditions or customs that you hold dear? 🔵 One cultural tradition that I deeply value is the celebration of Día de Los Muertos, or the Day of the Dead. This Mexican tradition provides an opportunity to honor and remember our deceased loved ones. The observance typically involves setting up altars adorned with marigolds, candles, photographs, as well as preparing and consuming traditional foods such as pan de Muertos (a type of bread) and sugar skulls. Amid a fast-paced environment, this tradition allows me to pause, reconnect with my heritage, and preserve the memory of my ancestors. ❓ What is a family tradition you wish to pass down, that your parents/grandparents have passed down to you? 🔵 A family tradition I am eager to pass down is the observance of Día de Los Muertos, or the Day of the Dead. This tradition, which has been handed down from my parents and grandparents, I feel is a profound way to honor and remember our ancestors. I am committed to ensuring that this cherished tradition continues through future generations, preserving both its cultural significance and the familial bonds it fosters. ❓ How has your heritage shaped your approach to work and collaboration? 🔵 My heritage has profoundly shaped my approach to work and collaboration in several meaningful ways. Growing up with a strong connection to my Mexican roots, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for the values of community, respect, and shared responsibility.
