Each year, over 1 billion children experience violence, with an economic impact estimated at $7 trillion⚠️ The urgency to prevent and respond to all forms of violence against children has never been greater. The first Ministerial Conference on Ending Violence Against Children taking place right now in Colombia, offers a pivotal moment to drive transformative change in child protection. Strong, inclusive child protection systems are among the most cost-effective and sustainable strategies to prevent violence against children while ensuring that those impacted receive the support needed to thrive. Protecting ALL children from ALL forms of violence across ALL contexts requires that child protection systems strengthening become a central strategy in our global approach. That’s why, together with our partners such as UNICEF and World Vision, we are launching the Framework for Action on Child Protection Systems Strengthening. This framework provides a common understanding and clear direction for key stakeholders, helping to identify the most critical actions needed for resilient and inclusive child protection systems. Join us in advancing these actions and ensuring that #EveryChildProtected becomes a reality. 🔗 Learn more and access the Framework for Action here👉 https://lnkd.in/kkfju #ChildProtection #EndViolence #VAC #EVAC2024

Each year, one billion children experience physical, emotional, and sexual abuse ⚠ The climate crisis, intensifying conflicts and the rapidly expanding digital environment are exposing children to even more risk of violence, especially the most vulnerable children❌ Children who experience violence not only experience immediate suffering and harm, they can also feel the effects for the rest of their lives. It affects their ability to develop, learn, grow and thrive as adults. Violence against children is intolerable. Every child should feel safe at home, at school and in their communities ❤️ But thankfully, violence against children is preventable, and we have solutions that work. Building robust child protection systems are one of the best ways to protect children. They connect children to vital social services – starting when they're born and throughout their childhood. That's why at the first-ever Ministerial Conference on Ending Violence Against Children taking place today and tomorrow in Colombia, we're calling on governments to strengthen comprehensive, sustainable and inclusive national child protection systems that prevent and respond to ALL forms of violence, abuse, exploitation and neglect. Meet the people keeping children safe ➡ https://lnkd.in/efFWZQAa #EVAC #InOurHands #EveryChildProtected #ChildProtection

Urban growth is increasingly affecting our children and youth, with 1 in 4 urban children growing up in slums. To ensure children thrive, cities must be designed with their wellbeing in mind. The World Urban Forum happening this week in Egypt is a monumental step towards this goal. Our delegation consisting of young representatives and Save the Children colleagues are eager to participate and discuss children's issues, which are at the forefront of many panels at this year's event. More than 5.8 million children have been forced to flee their homes in Sudan⚠ ❌ Out of these, more than 2.8 million are babies, toddlers and preschoolers. These small children are uniquely vulnerable, and while displaced many will miss out on early childhood essentials – including vaccinations, clean water, healthcare, nutritious food, and shelter from extreme heat and cold. ❌ Girls are also particularly at risk, with over 3.2 million of the displaced children being girls below 18, who face particular threats of sexual violence, rape, or early or forced marriage. This clearly shows that the world's largest displacement crisis is a children's crisis. “When people are forced to flee their homes due to violence, it’s usually the women and. children who go first – and we often see displacement camps filled with children. But the number of children displaced in Sudan – and in particular, their young age and vulnerability – is staggering" - Mohamed Abdiladif, Interim Country Director for Save the Children in Sudan. We are urgently calling on the international community to take meaningful and urgent political action to address this crisis, for an immediate ceasefire and progress towards a lasting peace agreement. Over 100 children have been killed by Israeli airstrikes in 5 weeks of war in #Lebanon⚠️ This equates to least 2 children every day. This deteriorating humanitarian crisis is first and foremost a children’s crisis. By law, children must be off-limits in war and must be protected. There is no time to waste, we urgently need a ceasefire now. Say it with us and sign the pledge➡️ https://lnkd.in/eEV2PeYu

The world is more dangerous than ever for children with crimes in conflict at highest ever in 2023⚠️ Our new report "Stop the War On Children: Pathways to Peace" has revealed that the number of grave violations committed against children in war rose 15% in 2023 to over 31,000 documented cases, the highest level since reporting started in 2005. An average of 31 children a day were killed or maimed and the biggest increases in crimes against children were recorded in the occupied Palestinian territory and Sudan. The report also revealed that the last three decades have witnessed a staggering increase in the number of children living under the weight of war, with the number reaching 473 million children – or 19% of the world’s child population – in 2023. This share has nearly doubled from around 10% of the world’s child population in the mid-1990s, as children’s right to protection in conflict continues to be destroyed. This report is devastating and leaves no doubt that the world is getting more dangerous for children. States must take action: ☑️ They need to uphold standards of conduct in conflict. ☑️They must hold perpetrators to account. ☑️They must protect humanitarian access. ☑️They need long term plans for peace. ☑️And they need to support children’s resilience and recovery. As government leaders and civil society, including activists, survivors, and young people, prepare to meet at the inaugural Global Ministerial Conference on Violence Against Children in Colombia next week, this report highlights the urgent need for intensified global action to combat violence against children in conflict and build a safer future for children worldwide. The future of millions of children depends on it❤️ Read the full report here➡️ https://lnkd.in/dV4BdKxQ

London, Tokyo, Stockholm, Rome and many more. The UNIQLO x Magnum Photos global photography exhibition – PEACE FOR ALL – has reached more than ten countries so far🌟 Expressing a wish for global peace, the exhibition captures the lives of children in Ukraine, Vietnam and Ethiopia. Federica Toscano, Senior Advocacy Advisor, Children on the Move, Save the Children Europe, said: “The ongoing conflict in Ukraine has forced countless children to leave behind everything they know. In times of crisis, providing not just shelter but also emotional and educational support is crucial for their well-being and future. Save the Children’s counselling hubs offer a safe space where children can heal, learn, and rediscover a sense of normalcy.” UNIQLO’s PEACE FOR ALL charity T-shirt project, supports Save the Children International, UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, and Plan International. UNIQLO and Save the Children have been working together since 2022. Through the PEACE FOR ALL initiative, we’ve supported and will continue to support children globally affected by conflict and emergencies. With at least 420,000 children fleeing their homes, they’ve been stripped of any sense of safety and stability. Children are telling us every loud sound makes them jump. And, with the majority of schools still closed, they are missing out on their basic right to learn. We are responding in more than 190 shelters across #Lebanon. To help children recover and get a sense of normalcy back in their lives, we've set up safe space spaces where they can play, be creative and make friends. We want to establish more child-friendly spaces but we need your support to do this. Please donate to help children living in crisis👉 https://bit.ly/3TUznhH
