  • The New London Barn Playhouse seeks a full-time Head Chef for the 2024 Summer Season. The Barn is celebrating 92 seasons of summer theater in a historic- landmarked, 200-year old converted barn. If you are passionate about cooking and have previous kitchen experience, then you may be the perfect candidate! The Head Chef reports to the Managing Director and will work closely with the Company Management team. The New London Barn Playhouse is seeking a hard-working, self-motivated Head Chef to join our team. Our theater operates from late May through early September (basically Memorial Day-Labor Day). The Head Chef will manage the kitchen, develop menus and create healthy, substantial meals to fuel our hard working staff. The ideal candidate for this position is creative, enthusiastic and passionate about food. This position will supervise approximately three to four additional seasonal kitchen staff- it is very hands on cooking. Those with previous experience are encouraged to apply. The New London Barn Playhouse is located in New London, New Hampshire in the greater Lake Sunapee area. Competitive compensation is based on experience and includes roundtrip travel, room and board included, and discounted tickets to theater performances over the season. Desired Qualifications: Previous camp chef/kitchen experience Experience in a institutional food-service setting Serve as supervisor of food service staff and making scheduling assignments Create healthy menus (lunch and dinner daily, number of meals varies throughout the season- numbers can vary from 50-100 people to feed…this number will always be confirmed the week prior by Company Management. Coordinate with food vendors (US Foods, Spring Ledge Farms, Black River Produce) and ordering quality food Manage budget for season long kitchen/food expenses Train staff in proper food service policies and procedures Prepare a variety of food for different diets (GF, vegetarian, plant based…) Accept guidance and supervision Good character, integrity, and adaptability Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience and self-control Desire and ability to work in a fast moving setting Learn more at nlbarn.org/jobs
