About us

Since we opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely, and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take payments and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn’t work together. So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions – to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, offer buy now, pay later functionality through Afterpay, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. Across it all, we’ve embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow in one place. Afterpay furthers our goal to provide omnichannel tools that unlock meaningful value and growth, enabling sellers to capture the next-generation shopper, increase order sizes, and compete at a larger scale. Today, we are a partner to sellers of all sizes – large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex operations, sellers just starting, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. As our sellers grow, so do our solutions. There is a massive opportunity in front of us. We’re building a significant, meaningful, and lasting business and helping sellers worldwide do the same.     At Square, we are passionate about supporting local communities and empowering entrepreneurs. We were thrilled to be part of the Blvck Spades launch party, where we connected with Atlanta’s talented entrepreneurs and innovators. We gave away 40 Square devices, including handheld terminals and chip readers, helping local businesses enhance their operations. The event featured the Blvcker Hackathon, where creative teams pitched their projects to judges, followed by networking with the Square team.     “As a franchise, we're always looking to have that innovation in tech to make things easier. Square has been able to give us that. It’s something that we mandate all franchisees use,” says Brandon Cornelius, chief operating officer of Costa Oil. And we knew we'd have to create the right culture,” says Phil Killoran, who opened quick-service restaurant BIRDCODE alongside his wife, Brandi. Together, the Killorans have built a franchise from the ground up, relying on Square for Franchises to scale with consistency and control. Both have Italian backgrounds, and when they noticed a gap in the market for made-to-order takeaway pasta, it all fell into place. “Combining food and business, they’re my two favourite things, so for me it was an easy decision,"⁠ says Co-owner Lorenzo Fantarella.
