The IHI & BMJ International Forum on Quality and Safety in Healthcare is underway in Brisbane, Australia! On the first day of the conference, we had the opportunity to learn about the impactful services offered by Micah Projects, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing support and advocacy for marginalized individuals. Micah Projects offers a wide range of services to the local Brisbane community—including access to quality health and wellness services, dedicated support for vulnerable women, children and families, and innovative housing solutions to break cycles of homelessness. We spoke with the incredibly passionate staff delivering the 24/7 Brisbane outreach service via the Street to Home program—providing practical assistance, including health care, to help people off the streets and on the way to a stable, secure home. Thank you to Micah Projects for your unwavering commitment to improving the lives of marginalized communities in Brisbane. When health care meets ethics, our choices reveal as much about our values as they do about our scientific advances. On the latest episode of Turn on the Lights Podcast, Don and Kedar are joined by Vardit Ravitsky, President and CEO of the The Hastings Center, to highlight the role of bioethics in navigating complex health care choices, especially those made prominent by the pandemic. She identifies artificial intelligence and climate change as the next major ethical challenges in health care, with AI potentially increasing access but presenting risks like bias and privacy concerns. Tune in and dive into the heart of bioethics, exploring how our most challenging health care decisions reflect who we are and shape the future of medicine: https://go.ihi.org/3UE3Gd3 Turn on the Lights Podcast is also available on Apple, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts.
