What is the difference between STEM, STEAM and STREAM? The STEM acronym stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. STEM is an integrated learning approach to help understand how the world works, like why the sky is blue, how cars move, and how computers work and much more. On the other hand, the STEAM acronym stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics. The Addition of “A” is to promote creativity and innovative thinking among learners, like designing cool apps. As a result, STEAM is a learning approach that combines creative thinking with scientific and technical skills. As a next step, STREAM introduces an additional focus with the 'R' for Reading or the 'W' for Writing, making it Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics. STREAM is a learning approach that brings literacy into the mix, to help students analyse scientific texts or write narratives based on their projects. We, Cretile believe that when students see the connections between subjects they will grow to be better problem solvers. What do you think? STEM is difficult… This perception raises the question on whether STEM-learning is challenging or the implementation is incorrect. Many researches and surveys show that the problem really lies in the implementation part. Key Points: 1\ STEM often viewed in schools as a separate subject, rather than a teaching approach 2\ Schools lack effective tools to provide hands-on STEM experiences 3\ STEM is all about hands-on learning, however, the majority of the learning at school is done without it. This ends up drawing students' interest away from STEM subjects. 4\ Teachers are not provided required training which is crucial for mentoring students. 5\ School assessments still focus on ability to recall, while STEM is about hands-on learning and real-world problem-solving. STEM is about learning through hands-on methods and that approach must be adopted for every single classroom. Successful STEM implementation needs the right tools, curriculum that is well integrated academic curriculum and most importantly continuous teacher training. Live from Didac 2024 at the Google Stall! 🌐 Continuing my conversation with Ms. Ritu Gulati, we explored the certification journey for teachers through Google. Ritu shared that Google offers several certifications designed for educators and IT professionals. The journey begins with the Level 1 (L1) certification, followed by Level 2 (L2). The highest level is the Trainer certification, which empowers educators to train their peers within their school and even offer training to other educators outside their institution. These certifications not only enhance a teacher's skills but also contribute to building a knowledgeable and capable teaching community. Thank you, Ritu, for sharing this valuable information! #Didac2024 #GoogleForEducation #TeacherCertifications #NamanJain #RituGulati #ProfessionalGrowth #EdTech #KeyCommunications Ritu Gulati Google DIDAC India
