This week, DefendEdge's CTI team explored threat actor TA866. Active since at least early 2021, this financially motivated group has a history of targeting the United States and Germany. Also known as Asylum Ambuscade, this threat actor uses phishing attacks with custom malware like WasabiSeed and Screenshotter. Known for its adaptability, their "Screentime" campaign captured desktop screenshots to identify valuable targets. After a brief pause, they re-emerged in 2024 with large-scale phishing. Just because the election is over doesn't mean the cyber threats targeting the election are done.
